Community Assessment

Question 3
There were various medical care facilities in the area accessible by a concrete road network.
Public health department clinics, income based clinics, and community health centers were 11 in number. (“Free and Income Based clinics in Santa Ana, California, 2016”)
These medical facilities offered services such as Dental clinic services and medical clinic services just to mention a few.
From the information we got from various patients who we talked to in the centers we visited, a reflection of ethnic background by physicians is low.
They said that most of the doctors were dedicated to their jobs and kind to the patients.
There was even the Advance Urgent Medical Group that catered for the Spanish population in the area.
Various doctors had their offices in the area such as Kindred Hospital in College Avenue, Clinical Medical General in 505 main street, Mr. Fernando M. Padilla, Dr. Daniel Jimenez in 520 W 17th Street.

Question 4
We visited Southwest Community Center.
The center provides clothing, shelter, health and referral services to the individuals and families who are economically challenged.
We found at that the community center in addition to giving goods to the challenged encourages those people to try and establish themselves so that they can sustain themselves.
When we asked them about the community in general, their concentration was mainly on the growing number of the homeless people.
The civic center has been a place of refuge for the homeless for many years. There has been an increasing number of homeless people, many pitching tents, the more disadvantaged spreading blankets in the open and others even creating semi-permanent structures in corridors for shelter.

Clothing was also freely distributed to men. The ‘famous’ community bus arrived at the village every Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to noon. Other services included rental assistance and eviction prevention, motel aid and utility assistance. Education centers were also present in the community.

We talked to Jennifer, the public relations officer of Scientology and asked her about the most influential person in the community. Her answer was definite.
The person the community considered most influential is L. Ronald Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology.
Despite the fact that Hubbard passed on a long time ago, his words have sunk deep into the lives of the community members.
His writings are the guiding texts of the Church of Scientology, in which most community members worship. He is considered a role model, a life example, and an intelligent being whose life was well lived.
Interview with various adults in the community on the subject of the most influential being around revealed that Jesus is practically the most influential.
We came up with this conclusion since more than half of the people interviewed not only mentioned Jesus but also went ahead and explained why and how he had touched their lives.
L. Ronald Hubbard was also mentioned by a few people.

Question 11
We identified the most significant people who are likely to face health problems to be homeless who were roaming the streets.
The poor souls had nowhere to sleep, had thorn old and dirty clothing, poor health not to mention their poor feeding habits.
The community was in a bad situation with this matter in hand.
Concerning these, we came up with a few recommendations that may help the homeless with not only food and clothing but a permanent residence and a future.
The community should provide free education to the homeless with the help of the government
Free health care services to the people identified as homeless
Free clothing.
The community should make a charity program that aims at feeding the homeless
