Global warming is catastrophic once no action is taken to counteract that as in the case of Alaska. Alaska State is the largest in the United States of America having 20% of the United States. This state also has a wide range of ecological and climatic conditions which include glaciers, tundra, rainforests, meadows, and boreal forest. The warming in Alaska has increased over the last 60 years more than twice of the warming in the United States as warming in winter has increased with an average of six degrees Celsius and has resulted in several changes in the climate led the breakup of the river ice(McKinstry, 2004 p 15).
The effects of global warming witnessed in this State has drawn the attention of the United States and the whole world at large as far as the lives of the people who live there are concerned since the State has 229 tribes. Innovation solutions are needed to be provided to ensure that the lives of the people living there are taken care of. One of the innovative solutions which should be undertaken in Alaska is ensuring that the greenspace has been developed in the urban centers. This will provide both community and environmental benefits in the State. The fertilizer usage will need to be reduced so as to lessen the eutrophication and this will help the ecosystem services as well as reduce the greenhouse gas emission (McKinstry, 2004 p 15). Technology will also be an innovative solution to the global warming in Alaska. Once a technology has been developed which can curb some of the problems which occur due to global warming will be a great move to saving the lives of the people living in Alaska. Global warming may arise as a result of the destruction of the ozone layer and technology can be used in ensuring that no harmful gasses are released to the atmosphere which leads to more destruction of the ozone layer (McKinstry, 2004 p 15).
Permafrost has been a major problem in Alaska, the innovative solution to solve this is the use of thaw mitigation techniques which will provide protective benefits of the infrastructure. The reduced emissions of CO2 will reduce the effect of carbon footprint in the state. To reduce the glacier melting in Alaska the soot which is created by burning the fossils has to be controlled hence slowing the global warming. Due to disappearing ice, the village of Alaska needs to be relocated since this is becoming a threat to the people (Wuebbles & Jain, 2001 pp 101).
After the problem has been addressed, several measures are needed to be undertaken to ensure that the problem is solved of the risk addressed is minimized. One of these measures is the releasing of the new climate data, tools, and maps which will assist the communities in understanding and preparing for the future climate change (Wuebbles & Jain, 2001 pp 99). This will create awareness to every person and will decrease the number of the people who fall as victims of the effects of global warming. Providing this information will also assist the government to plan on the strategies of helping the people who will have a probability of being victims.
Another measure which should be undertaken in Alaska is food security that is protecting the places which support farming. On affecting these areas then there will be total starvation in the State since most of them rely on farming (Wuebbles & Jain, 2001 pp 111). Ensuring that the water is protected from the effects of global warming which may lead to the death of fish which is also a source of food to other people. Undertaking these measures will ensure continued survival in the State and more so ensuring that the Native Americans are safe since they are most vulnerable to these climatic changes.
There are several things which have already been put in place in Alaska as far as global warming is concerned. The only agenda is to save the lives of the people living there and ensure that the place is not hostile to their lives as they continue to stay. One of these measures which have been put in place is the Israeli-invented toilet which does not require any water and also does not leave any waste is being used in Alaska (Füssel, 2007 pp 2269). This has been helpful especially to the drier places whereby water is not common therefore using this toilet has been a great help to them. This toilet has also taken care of reduction of waste disposal which may be hazardous to the people due to poor disposal.
Food security has also been put in order through a body known as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This body has ensured that there is food security for the people who are living in Alaska since they depend on farming and also swimming which is not that good (Füssel, 2007 pp 270). Through this body, they are able to get food security for their survival when the climate is not that friendly to their crops. Relocation has also been put in place by the network group and has put supportive efforts to ensure that relocation has been a success.
Preventing climate change in Alaska is a major concern as far as the safety of the residents is concerned and the resources. Energy efficiency should be boosted since most of the energy is used to heat, power and cool our businesses and industries which contribute largely to global warming. Using this energy efficiently in technology will allow less energy and increase the level of production (Füssel, 2007 pp 275). Use of fossil fuel and especially the carbon-intensive coal can tackle the climate change.

Conclusion
Lastly, awareness should be created to the people living in Alaska for the risks which arise out of global warming and the times that t is in the extreme so as to take safety measures. Reduction of emission of poisonous gasses to the atmosphere should be checked and the gasses treated before they are discharged to the atmosphere ensure that ozone layer is not affected.
